Fan Mail Address & How to Write
Tips in writing a Good Fan Letter:
1. Why write to Dom?
There are many reasons why you could wish to write to Dom:
- You dig his work, and you think its high time to say "thanks,
well done!"
- You think Dom is your all time favorite actor and is the coolest
thing ever since man walked on the moon, and you want to let him
know.
Than grab a paper & pen and write to:
Dominic Purcell
Untitled Entertainment
1801 Century Park E.
Suite 700
Los Angeles, CA 90067
USA
Dominic Purcell
c/o Prison Break
P.O. Box 900
Attn: FOX BROADCASTING Publicity Dept.
Beverly Hills, CA 90213
2. Giving out your Personal Information:
- While we invite Dom into our home everytime we see him on
Television bringing one of his characters to life. We really don't
know Dom. You may think you do based on the many interviews he has
done. But, you don't and in any case he doesn't know you. This is
something to consider when you write a letter to Dom and include
personal information. You are, after all, writing to a complete
stranger.
- Be aware that Dom pays other people to handle his fan mail. And
they are responsible for his letters and autograph requests. So
think twice before you write anything too personal - you don't know
who's reading it.
3. You are not happy fan:
- You are not happy with the direction of Prison Break is
going.
- You dislike Dom's latest interview.
- You dislike one of his characters.
In other words, you are no happy fan and you want to complain.
Now, you got every right to voice criticizm - but you should do it
in a civil way. Don't write anything you wouldn't be willing to
receive yourself.
4. Reasons why you shouldn't bother to write:
- Your last name is Purcell and you think Dom should share his
wealth with you because he might be a distant relative.
- You believe he has John Doe's abilities and knows the winning
lottery numbers.
- You're convinced Dom is the man you want to have a baby with.
While your reasons may be valid for you, I suggest you seek
professional help, before you pick up that pen and paper.
5. Tips and Suggestions:
- First and foremost, make sure you're sending your letter to the
correct address.
- Always include a self-addressed stamped envelope (SASE) if you
want a reply back. Enclose a folded 8x10 manila envelope,
pre-addressed back to you with the proper postage. Use your address
as the return address.
- Make sure you use the correct postage. Make sure your letter
makes it and that your response makes it back to you. If you don't
have enough stamps all your efforts will be wasted!
- Include a photo and/or 3x5 index card for Dom to sign. While Dom
may have stock photos used for autographs on hand, but to help
maximize responses, it is a good idea to enclose a photo of your
own and/or a 3"x5" index card. (any type of photo will do, even one
torn out of a magazine) Remember, you want to increase your odds by
making it easy for Dom to respond and having all options taken care
of.
- DO NOT send food, money, gifts, or other items to Dom. The main
reason is because of security issues.
- DO NOT send a generic "form" letter. A generic letter requesting
an autograph saying "I'm your biggest fan, can I get an autograph"
most likely will not get a response. Make your letter real, and
personalized. Acknowledge Dom’s accomplishments in your letter.
Referencing to his work, career or impact on you will give you much
better odds of getting a reply. Constructive criticism is okay, but
be assured that non-constructive criticism will result in your
letter ending up in the trash!
- Keep it short, neat, polite and to the point. Preferably type
your letter, or at least write it neatly. Keep it short, and get to
the point quickly. Be polite and courteous. Kindly ask for an
autograph, but do not beg or give guilt trips. Keep your letter
less than one page long. Check your spelling!
- DO NOT ask Dom to meet you, call you, marry you, etc. The fact is
Dom is a busy person, and don't have time for these sorts of
requests. he does appreciate honest fan mail and will send
autographs to fans. If you're asking for something more, you'll
likely be ignored.
- DO NOT use gimmicks or guilt trips. Saying "my son is your
biggest fan and is dying of cancer" is not a good way to get a
response. Being honest is!
- Remember to include your name and address on the letter. Have
your full name and address written clearly on your letter, on the
return address on the envelope and on your SASE.
- Be Patient. The hardest part about writing a fan letter is the
wait. While sometimes Dom will respond immediately, other times it
can take a year or more. As a general rule, you should allow four
to eight weeks to receive a reply. Please keep in mind how much
mail Dom gets and don't be too disappointed if you don't get any
personal response. Don't get discouraged, you never know when the
day is coming that you come home and have some mail from Dom.
